Arthur Conley - Sweet Soul Music (1967)

  1. For his full performance at this show, watch his version of "In the Midnight Hour" then go to Stax-Volt Revue Love in Norway 1967 Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 (of 6). Unfortunately, his performance of "Sweet Soul Music" is split between part 1 & part 2, but if you start part 1 at 6:44 and then go to part 2 you can catch THE GREATEST PERFORMANCE of this DYNAMIC SINGER (and protege of Otis Redding) who taught Europe the meaning of soul!
  2. Also on YouTube: The song he does before this in the show: "In the Midnight Hour" as well as a fine performance he did in Germany from 1967 as well.
  3. This is from Arthur Conley's greatest performance, found on the long-lost Stax-Volt Revue Live in Norway 1967 (also featuring Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Eddie Floyd, Booker T & The MG's (w/ the late Donald Duck Dunn) and the Mar-Keys. Unfortunately, this cuts off before he breaks it down with his imitations of James Brown, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett & Sam & Dave. Get the DVD and enjoy all 5 minutes and 47 minutes of the breathtaking, awesome performance of this underrated singer!
