  1. I agree, there's always room for improvement. I just think that if you're playing with one of the greatests the nervosity kicks in and your brain just goes to the solid beats, maybe I'm wrong but that's what I think.
  2. I think we're talking about different kind of safe. Your definition of safe I believe is more of the idea of having the necessary techniques to express. I however, think Cobus did have the techniques; he just toned his playing down to the level of "absolute" comfort. I'm really used to seeing Cobus quite confident and VERY agressive with his style, and I just didn't see it. Does that mean he's a bad drummer? No. It simply means that he has rooms for improvement, which is a good thing.
  3. Improvisation is about playing what you feel safe in, because you are not thinking "in the next bar I'm going to play that fill, 2 hits in the high tom, 3 in the floor tom" no, you just let your body flow and you try to remember and apply as many things you can.
  4. Just watch the title:. Cobus Potgieter and Terry Bozzio and not Terry Bozzio and Cobus Potgieter. :)
  5. este video es el mas m!·"$"·%"·$%"· q he visto quiten eso
  6. its not even like a duet, its just boz doin his thing and cobus watching as he taps some fills.
  7. however i feel that the fact that he's even doing a duet with such a legendary drummer its inevitable to feel intimidated or nervous.....i mean the guys not even using a drum set......xP
  8. weel said my friend!
  9. Yeah but come on, this guy is what like 20 years old and jamming with THE Terry Bozzio, he just doesn't want to face plant.
  10. well said! - too many guys with all the comments and where are they in their drumming....not anywhere near this stage poorpy executed or not -
  11. Just gained a whole new appreciation for Bozzio - and a nice introduction to Cobus. NICE JOB on this. Each drum/instrument sounded nice and all were played with finesse capturing the characteristics of the instrument. Also entertaining for all levels and non musicians without being too self indulgent-just making music!! Awesome!
  12. An absolutely amazing mix of jungle and city!! ^^
  13. i think he was just trying to fit in with the feel. It would sound horrible if cobus was going crazy and the terry was play congos.
  14. 1 Word, PERFECT
  15. I dunno, man. I've never seen this guy before, but he's right in the the same exact groove as bozzio. Bozzio even threw him a loop at like 1:20 or so to test it, and he totally got it bang on. He's a master improviser, that's for sure. Maybe he's just not showing off cause he knows bozzio could too and isn't.
  16. cobus overrated? he is so young and he's playing with all those legends of the drum world ofc he's playing safe and easy i wonder how you would feel to stay on the side of a guy who made the music hystory for over 30 years xD u can't compare cobus to guy like weckl jojo mayer or banny greb they had a different background and different experience for sure! he's just a guy who love to play the drum he is not trying to compete with anyone...everyone is just so full of hate this days..
  17. that boy is freezed.. he dosnt know what todo... Im bored to see those videos and he always stays in that monotonepatter with the cymbals.. ive seen 3 videos with this and he is always the same
  18. cobus is the most overrated drummer i've ever seen in my life, after travis baker. He's playing as easy and safe as he can. Fuckin boring as fuck. Mr Bozzio is doing his thing though.
  19. At first I was like "Bozzio has a normal kit!" Then I saw the close-up shot........
  20. 06:08 is Cobus like:"what a hell is this sound?" :-D there should be made some new word which means something better than ,,awesome,, :-D it would fit this solo perfectly.
  21. This shows what cobus is made of in my opinion. He's got some chops and obviously little nerve. How he even scored a session with Bozzio I'll never know. Cobus is no where close to that realm, maybe he should jam with Kesha instead.
  22. i love how cobs was always looking at him trying to tell what he was going to do next
  23. its not always about taking risks its a simple melody and thats how they wanted to keep it
  24. its not always about taking risks its a simple melody and thats how they wanted to keep it
  25. the man speaks.. the boy cries and finally say nothing interesting!
