Laus Deo Semper http://www.CobusPotgieter.com http://www.facebook.com/deedlebag This is a Tribute. Dedicated to just a few of the bands that had such an incredibly big effect and influence on my love for music and drumming. For the record, the first song I EVER played on a drumkit, was Sweetness from Jimmy Eat World, way back middle 2002. (The video was initially removed because LINKIN PARK - FAINT was tagged due to copyright constraints. I got it back up after disputing the copyright claim, as this cover renders the original song useless for third-part copying.) This Tribute is a compliation of (sometimes only pieces of) the following songs: Jimmy Eat World - Sweetness Blink-182 - Anthem Pt. II Blink-182 - First Date Box Car Racer - There Is Blink-182 - I Miss You Biffy Clyro - 57 Linkin Park - Faint Dream Theatre - New Millennium Dream Theatre - Fatal Tragedy Liquid Tension Experiment - Universal Mind Dream Theater - Octavarium The set follows my drumming journey from pop-punk to the more complicated and heavier stuff. I remember thinking I would NEVER be able to play the 3/8 variation in New Millennium, so it was SO much fun to out in this compilation, and to be forced to learn to play it. I have to emphasize, I know saying I "cover" these songs is wrong, seeing as I only PARTLY stayed true to the song's drums (or lack thereof), through the WHOLE set I play some variations of the beats, phrasing and fills, since 99% of what I play is improvised. Even though I have done my fair share of session and studio drumming, that has little to zero effect on these video's, I kind of see them as live performances. I'm NOT aiming to be accurate to the original drums, I'm just aiming to enjoy myself. And I thoroughly succeeded in doing that, might I add :) Al material contained herein are the copyrighted property of it's owner(s). (External) Drums by Cobus Potgieter.

  1. I honestly thought this would be a cover of that, so the title was pretty confusing.

  21. yeah but ur name is nipple inspector, when you obviously spend your time trolling vids instead of doing what every 2nd grader has already done(and in case ur to retarded to know what i mean, its inspecting nipples)
  22. go fuck yourself, cunt
  23. never said anyone was, but to say Mike Portnoy's drum parts are boring is to ignore the entirety of the songs Cobus took from. Fatal Tragedy is a 7 minute song and Octavarium is a 24 minute epic (he really didn't take anything from Octavarium in terms of the drums but I won't go there).
  24. Post your videos bigshot
