- Cowboy Tony you might be surprised to find out that "Hurt" isnt really a Johnny Cash song. He performed it on the last album he released which is all covers. Trent Reznor wrote Hurt for Nine Inch Nails. I like Johnny's version alot you could tell he could really relate to the words Trent wrote. I suppose all great storytellers like Johnny have to be able relate to a story they are telling.

- Amen-Christian folk like me who see the Holyland for it,s history, spirituality and beauty, It's way beyond politics folks that's just some new left propaganda that "chic", but don't beleive the hype. Johnny and June got it right.
- I don't want to rain on anyone's religious parade but you should watch "I Walk The LIne" movie and also read his autobiography. I think in the end he ultimately found redemption for himself, but a lot of the music he wrote was when he was at his most wretched and, may I add, most unbelieving and cynical.

- This is the 02/24/1971 show that caused ABC to cancel Johnny Cash as a weekly series. He had been warned by the network brass not to produce an overtly religious program, so in typical Cash style, he flipped them off and did an all-gospel show with Stuart Hamblin, Mahalia Jackson, The Blackwood Bros., The Staples, The Edwin Hawkins Singers, Oak Ridge Boys, and climaxing with Billy Graham preaching a short sermon. Cash made his point loud & clear.
He got his notice from ABC a week later.
