- Robert Johnson brought me here, motherfucker.
- There certainly was and is a lot of racism in the world, ESPECIALLY during the time and in the place Johnson was from, but the crossroads myth seems to be perpetuated by Johnson himself and black culture of his day that called Blues the devils music. Johnson's stepdad called it the devil's music. Maybe it was his way of sticking it to his religious stepdad or just an image thing like rockers associating with the devil that they probably dont even believe in either.
- The legend he's talking about has nothing to do with Supernatural, it's the long standing legend and folklore surrounding Robert Johnson's life and probably popularized the most by the 80s movie, Crossroads.
- 1:22 look openly to the right above his guitar never noticed it that i heard the tape of an old friend of mr.johnsons explaining a story told by mr.johnson of himself and how he sold his soul to play blues pretty scary didnt they like have black magic vodo witches in them days gives me chills
- is the legend true?
- Heard the story just like everyone else, pisses me off!! There is nothing such as a "devil" but there is, and especially, were a lot of racism and jealousy, and poor Robert Johnson felt it because of his talent!
- Mr. Top comment has been watching to much Supernatural. The crossroads are used to dispose of your conjure left overs ie bath water, tools used to mix your powders and potions ect. The idea is the cross roads keeps the magic moving. There is also a legend that says go to the cross roads at mid night bring what ever u want to be good at and on the third night a man in black will appear and grant you skill. I assume there's a price to be paid but I don't think it's your soul
- Mr.top comment
- You spelled beginning wrong in the end there.
- The Devil in Johnson's case was a mountain of talent, too much, whiskey, and a bad habit of messing other dude's women. So yea the devil got him, but it was his devil, the same devil, that wrote his songs, and ultimately led to his death. The good life won't get you to the crossroads and the crossroads won't give you a long life. The Blues is only born of the Blues and not some desire to play them, because the blues is born of life's experience. If have it then play it!
- I have been to the actual Crossroads in MS. And the one they used they used in the Movie, there is a strange vibe there....It is in the middle of nowhere, and at the time the time I was there it was still dirt. Outside of Greenwood Ms.
- mmmmm mmm mmm from New Zealand sell mine annytime much love
- A few hundred years ago, Classical composers Bach & Son, toured Europe, playing their Harpsichords.
They too, lived in the shadow of the rumour, "they sold their soul to the devil !"
Truth or myth ?
Seemingly all of them were the greatest, for whatever reason.
Talent ??
