CD http://www.ioffer.com/i/550578524 May 30,1981 This was her most successful song and was controversial at the time because the subject matter of the song compared a woman's lover metaphorically to the Devil. Terri Gibbs is blind from birth. More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terri_Gibbs

  1. I think it was just meant to be a novelty tune I never gave the"Devil" reference a second thought.. My friend when he first heard this, he thought it was Anne Murray. Very similar voice. What is Terri's vocal range? Contralto? Sure sounds like it.
  2. WOW...Talk about a FLASHBACK !
  3. Terri is one of the best.....thanks
  4. Was that Solid Gold? I remember watching that every Saturday afternoon when I was little.
  5. ‘Lord, it's the devil Would you look at him I've heard about him But I never dreamed He'd have blue eyes and blue jeans’ On this day in 1981 {January 11th} "Somebody's Knockin'" by Terri Gibbs entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart at position #94; and 14 weeks later on April 19th, 1981 it peaked at #13 {for 2 weeks} and spent 22 weeks on the Top 100... It reached #3 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart and #8 on Billboard's Hot Country singles chart... She had one other Top 100 record, "Rich Man", it stayed on the chart for five weeks, peaking at #89... Teresa Fay Gibbs will celebrate her 61st birthday in five months on June 15th {2015}...
  6. WTF with Dionne Warwick showing her teeth .... that's not a smile ...
  7. Terri is a nice woman who used to visit my store she sometimes sings in church.
  8. Chet Atkins also recorded this song, but as an instrumental. He may have done it before Ms. Gibbs
  10. Whatever happened to her??
  11. Blind from birth. WHAT A REVELATION. This song and it's exquisite lyrics, I always thought were from a sighted singer. The blue eyes and blue jeans just moved me in that duirection ! ! AMAZING ! ! Wonderful to see the introduction with Barry White and Dionne Warwick. WOW THANKS
  12. When it comes to looks, he/she? is the susan boyle of the 80's!!
  13. When Barry White is introducing Terri, he says that "Chad" Atkins gave her her start in the industry, when he clearly means Chet Atkins. I realize they come from two completely different musical genres, but he is a professional and should know the difference. Ray Charles had some crossover country hits even though he was primarily R&B - and I doubt anyone ever called him "Roy".
  14. devil speaks..
  15. "He must've tapped my telephone line" Now he's gonna tap that ass.
  17. One, Two Three, Four I declare an #earwormwar Blue, Yellow, Black, Red Can you keep this tune out of your head? (And it's all +Amanda Rachelle Warren 's fault, so go blame her).
  18. I remeber her I seen her in concert what ever happened to her it was like she had a one hit wonder too bad she was good in concert She was blind her & Ronnie M would of made a great duet their voices would sound great together
  19. Oh man, I haven't heard this in over 30 yrs!
  20. 21. @bigcheese1973 You are just envious!!!
  23. With the entire song being about a man, it never even gave you a slight clue? lol That's okay, because for a long time, I thought Geddy Lee was female, and Stevie Ray Vaughan was black. LOL
